The Arts Academy Charter Middle School Foundation proudly announces the new Play It Forward program, designed to offer quality musical instruments to students interested in pursuing Instrumental Music study at Arts Academy Charter Middle School.
What is Play It Forward?
Play It Forward aims to provide quality musical instruments to AACMS Instrumental Music students at a reasonable cost. The program is supported through donations of used and functional musical instruments as well as funding for the maintenance and repair our instrument inventory.
Who benefits from Play It Forward?
The program exclusively benefits the student musicians of Arts Academy Charter Middle School’s Instrumental Music Department. Instruments are used by our students in rehearsals and performances. Donations and rental fees offset the cost of instrument repair and maintenance.
The AACMS Foundation is currently in the process of acquiring instruments for this program, which we expect to be fully implemented at the start of the 2019-2020 academic year in August 2019.
How does Play It Forward work?
To participate, AACMS Instrumental Music students and their families will complete a rental contract and pay a non-refundable rental fee of $25.00 annually. Students have use of the instrument for in-class rehearsals, at-home practice and school performances for the duration of the school year. Each student is responsible for the care e of his or her instrument during the rental period.
How can I contribute to Play It Forward?
The AACMS Foundation acquires instruments for Play It Forward exclusively through donations. Members of the school community and general public are welcome to donate instruments at any time by completing a Play It Forward Donation Form (see below) and dropping the completed form and instrument(s) off at the AACMS Main Office during normal business hours. Monetary donations are also gratefully accepted.
The AACMS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Please note, AACMSF does not provide appraisals or estimate the value of donated instruments.
Play It Forward currently seeks the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet (B-flat and bass), saxophone (alto, tenor and baritone), trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone/euphonium, tuba, snare drum, bell kit, violin, viola, cello, bass (any size), guitar and electric keyboard.
Instrument donations can also be made in person at any AACMS student performance, including the Winter Music Festival (January 12), Show Stoppers! (March 15), Fifth Grade Arts Showcase (March 29), Innovations Dance Showcase (April 13), Vocal Music Spring Concert (April 16), and the Instrumental Music Spring Concert (May 4).
