Terra Nova Survey Information

All new AACMS students take the Terra Nova Survey in September of each school year.

2018 Terra Nova Survey dates will be as follows:

  • Tuesday, September 25: All 5th Grade and new 6th grade students
  • Wednesday, September 26: All new 7th abd 8th grade students

The Terra Nova Survey is used to assist our teachers in providing a relevant and meaningful education to all of our students.  Our new students come from many different school districts, school types, and educational backgrounds, and the Terra Nova Survey will provide a snapshot of the students' abilities in math and reading as they enter AACMS.  While the testing does not impant a student’s grades, it is an important part of getting to know our students better and planning for their success!

Results of the Terra Nova Survey will be available in October.  A copy of the results will be sent home with students and kept on file at school.

Students cannot study for this survey.  They are not expected to have learned everything on the survey and may be unfamiliar with some of its content.  Those student who score below average in reading or math, will be asked to retake the same test in the Spring in order for the school to track their progress.

Please contact Kathleen Adolt-Silva, Director of Educational Support Services, with any questions.
