Thank you for your interest in Arts Academy Charter Middle School! AACMS is a regional charter school, offering a tuition-free public education to middle school students from over twenty school districts across eastern Pennsylvania. We provide our students with the opportunity to explore their artistic passions in seven different arts disciplines in a supportive, challenging and rigorous school environment. AACMS is open to students in grades five through eight from any school district in Pennsylvania.
Admission to AACMS is achieved through an application and interview process, described below:
Step 1: Admissions Open House
While not a requirement for admission, all prospective students and their families are welcome to attend one of our Admissions Open House events. During an Open House, students and families have the opportunity to participate in an Information Session with AACMS Administration, learning valuable information about our curriculum, student life and the admissions process. The Admissions Open House also includes a tour of our Salisbury Township facility and the opportunity to meet teachers and school staff.

Step 2: Application
All prospective students interested in interviewing must complete and submit a New Student Application. In addition to the a completed and signed application, prospective students and their families must submit a copy of the student's birth certificate, a copy of the student's most recent report card, and proof of residency. Other supplementary information may also be requested by the school as described in the application.

Step 3: Shadowing - Spend a Day at AACMS
When applying, prospective students will have the opportunity to request a visit to AACMS during a normal school day. Prospective students will be paired with a current AACMS student in the student's artistic discipline and grade level of interest and spend the day experiencing student life at AACMS first-hand.
Shadowing dates are scheduled on January on a first-come first-served basis. To request a Shadowing experience, please mark the appropriate box on the new student application and submit it be the Shadowing request deadline. Due to the high volume of applications received, each applicant is limited to a Shadowing experience in only one arts discipline.
Please note: Scheduling for shadowing opportunities for Fall 2019 applicants has now closed.
Step 4: Interview
All prospective students seeking admission at AACMS must complete a New Student Interview. Interviews are conducted on specific dates in February and March each year. During the interview, applicants will meet with AACMS faculty to discuss their interest in the arts as well as other school subjects. Students should also prepare to give a brief artistic presentation in at least one artistic discipline. Recognizing that our students come from a wide variety of artistic and educational backgrounds, we do not seek perfection in our interviews. Instead, our teachers and staff look for evidence of interest, preparation and potential.

Step 5: Admissions Decisions
Students who complete the application and interview process in the winter or early spring will receive an Admissions Decision by mail beginning April 1 of each year. Admissions decisions are not made prior to this date, and AACMS staff will be unable to give additional information about an application's admissions status prior to April 1.
Applications received after March 20 each year will be scheduled for an interview in June after the conclusion of the current school year.
Step 6: New Student Orientation
All new students enrolling at AACMS will have the opportunity to participate in our New Student Orientation, which is typically scheduled in August just prior to the first day of each new academic year. All new students will also receive an Accepted Students Packet with information on our School Nutrition Program, transportation and medical records requirements. Information for accepted students will also be posted on our website.
If you have any questions about the application or interview process, please contact the AACMS Registrar by email at registrar@arts-cs.org. Please allow 3-5 business days for a response.
